Akshar Lohith

Junior Specialist

Akshar Lohith has recently graduated with a degree in Biomolecular Engineering B.S. and minor in Bioinformatics at the University of California, Santa Cruz in Spring of 2014. He joined the Pourmand research group in the Winter of 2012. His current research is in single cell manipulation using nanopipettes, teaching him basic laboratory skills, skills in cell culture, and in nanotechnology. Since graduating, Akshar has also learned and performs sample preparation for Illumina Sequencing. He operates and maintains the Illumina HiSeq 2000 and MiSeq instruments for DNA and RNA sequencing. The hobbies that Akshar actively engages in are outdoor sports and activities, training in Aikido, experimenting in homebrew recipes, and playing video games.
